By adding a 55 MW battery system, Togo can store the excess energy generated by the Blitta plant during the day and dispatch it during evening peak hours or periods of low solar generation. This approach directly addresses energy security and reliability.
Independent power producer GoldenPeaks Capital (GPC) and the Polish arm of China's battery manufacturer Huawei have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the deployment of 500 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across central and eastern Europe.
A construction of a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 22 MW, equipped with an electricity storage system of 16,512 MWh has been today approved by The Government of Moldova.
The project combines a 250 MWp solar photovoltaic plant with a 150 MW/600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and will be a major contributor to the Government of Zambia's efforts to diversify its energy mix and strengthen national grid stability.
The project features a 45 MW / 90 MWh BESS facility, representing the country's largest battery, and is part of the broader Transmission Expansion and Energy Storage (TEES) program. Funding support for TEES is being provided through the World Bank, under Loan and Grant numbers.
In the eastern Chinese coastal county of Rudong, Jiangsu province, a 35-storey-high steel structure houses around 1,000 25-metric-ton gravity blocks that are lifted to store surplus renewable energy and lowered to produce electricity during peak demand.
